11 WWE Title Changes That MUST Happen In 2023
10. NXT Championship - Ilja Dragunov
This is surely the year that NXT’s prize pig flees the pen (so to speak). Expect to see Bron Breakker tearing it up on the main roster, maybe some time around the post-Mania Raw (with a Royal Rumble appearance to whet fans’ appetites). First, though, he needs to leave his title, which he’s carried so well, in capable hands.
Who better, on NXT’s kind of odd roster, than Ilja Dragunov? The Russian has been used carefully since jumping over from NXT UK, where he took part in the two finest matches in company history, winning their title in the latter. He has already locked horns with Breakker in an excellent triple threat match which also featured JD McDonagh, and has a level of experience few in developmental can approach.
Dragunov should follow Breakker to the main roster soon enough, so this doesn’t need to be a lengthy run, but Bron has been such an instrumental part of NXT 2.0 and its latest iteration that his leaving could cause something of a vacuum unless the strap is placed on someone worthy.
