12 Bizarre Pieces Of Trivia About WWE Action Figures

1. The Great Sling 'Em-Fling 'Em Wrestling Ring Recall

Using the corner ring post as a weapon is nothing new to wrestling. Unfortunately, no one ever expected them to be used this way. The original "Sling 'Em-Fling 'Em" Wrestling Ring from LJN was recalled in 1991 due to a series of four incidents in which, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, "children, ranging in age from six to 10 years, fell onto one of these toys. In each case, one of the four rigid plastic corner posts penetrated the child's body cavity causing severe internal injury." Consumers were instructed to remove the posts from the ring immediately, and that "because the posts are so rigidly secured, consumers may have to break the posts to remove them." Despite saying that LJN was the one who issued the recall, the CPSC also stated "LJN Toys Ltd. is out of business and cannot be contacted." Interesting, as LJN was a subsidiary of Acclaim Entertainment, though they only published video games at this point. ----- So there are your 12 bizarre pieces of trivia about WWE (or companies WWE bought) action figures. Of course, seeing as there have been figures and other toys coming out for the past 30 years (give or take), maybe we missed a few things?
