Just in case there wasn’t enough intrigue for Payback with the world title match, WWE decided to throw a non-wrestling segment onto the PPV, and it’s a McMahon-filled one at that.

Vince McMahon will finally end the charade of Shane McMahon running Monday Night Raw because of “popular demand” and either make it permanent or end it and return Stephanie McMahon (and Triple H) as the head of Raw. Regardless of the repeated criticisms of the poor storytelling with Shane running Raw, it has been refreshing to have a babyface authority figure for a change, and it would be a shame to see it end.

Also, having Stephanie and Triple H back to pontificate and brag for 15 minutes at the opening of every episode is not exactly an upgrade. Considering that WWE is branding Payback as the first PPV of the new era, one has to wonder if they’d pull the plug this quickly.
