12 Conclusions From WWE RAW (June 22)

1. The Happy Family Is A Backward Step

Seth Rollins is a desperate man. With Brock Lesnar waiting for him at Battleground, the WWE Champion was forced to apologise to Kane and J & J Security for his recent ill behaviour towards them, resulting in a (hopefully intentional) cringeworthy in-ring promo in which Rollins claimed to have modelled his wrestling style on Messrs Noble and Mercury. Once Brock emerged, it seemed that Seth was on his own as Kane and Double J left him alone in the ring with The Beast Incarnate - only for Kane to blindside Lesnar as he prepared to destroy the WWE Champion. Brock managed to buy himself enough time to send Rollins to Suplex City, but eventually the numbers game caught up with The Anomaly, leaving the champ and his once again happy family standing tall. It's an understandable move by WWE, as they would have had a hard time convincing anyone that Seth was in with a chance at Battleground otherwise. But it does feel lazy. Instead of fixing himself up with a new ally or two, it's the same old same old. The Architect's plans will either fall apart between now and the PPV, or Brock will have to face the prospect of overcoming the odds, like Orton and Ambrose before him. It's not exactly a mouth-watering prospect, but until Battleground is upon us, anything can happen. Here's hoping it does - if only for the sake of variety.

As a long-time WWE fan, I have always enjoyed watching men pretend to beat each other up while wearing spandex. Extra points for facepaint, none for tassels. I love all things sci-fi. If there's a 'Star' somewhere in the title, I'll probably dig it. I'm a huge football fan too. For my sins, I support Manchester United.
