2. Michael Cole vs. Jerry 'The King' Lawler - WrestleMania XXVII
FIFTEEN MINUTES! FIF...TEEN...MINUTES. Why WWE felt the need to make this match so long is anyone's guess. In all fairness, The King and Cole's rivalry dominated the story lines in the build up to Mania 27 so making it one of the marquee matches was arguably deserved. Then again, King was 60 years old at the time while the Cole Miner belongs a long way from the squared circle. The rivalry came about after Cole interfered to stop Lawler winning the WWE title in a TLC match against The Miz. So in hindsight, what should have happened was a five minute squash match in which The King got his revenge and Cole was justly humiliated on the grandest stage of them all. Instead, we got an unbearably long and somewhat competitive match up that even included a ridiculous looking Swagger Bomb from Cole, who spent a large chunk of the match with the upper hand. King eventually, and somewhat mercifully, got the win via an ankle lock.
