12 Most Notorious Kane Urban Legends

3. Holding Down WCW Guys And Hating WCW

Kane is WWF / WWE to the core. Through good times and bad times, he has stayed loyal to Vince McMahon for twenty years. He began work in June 1995, first as a mad dentist character and later as the fake Diesel. It wasn't until 97 that he got the Kane gig. Given that he experienced WCW kicking the WWF's a** for four years, it is no surprise that he apparently hates WCW. An urban legend sprang up that Kane and The Undertaker hated WCW so much, that they deliberately stiffed and squashed multiple WCW guys during the 2001 Invasion / Alliance storylines. Why People Believe It: Let's face it, Kane and Undertaker properly buried WCW talents in 2001. The squashes were hugely counterproductive and basically felt like purposeful ruination of the acquired WCW brands. Did it look like Kane was genuinely trying to hurt some of the WCW guys? Yes, it did. Should We Believe It: There's no reason to believe Kane set out to purposefully hurt guys. He isn't that kind of worker. If his attack looked realistic, that's more down to his skill as a worker. As for the way he squashed WCW, that's as much down to creative. There's nothing to suggest that Kane took extra delight in it being WCW. Still, after being in such a brutal war with WCW for so long, it is reasonable to suggest that he did despise the brand.
