The word on the grapevine was that Angle's neck was in a really bad way, and the dirtsheets were reporting it as possibly career ending. It really looked as if Kurt would be leaving and getting surgery, with a Brock Lesnar versus The Undertaker main event at WrestleMania 19 as the replacement. So when Angle then got the all clear and the match was confirmed as going ahead, fans everywhere breathed a collective sigh of relief. It was the match that WWE had been teasing for months, and the thought of not getting it after all the build was an excruciating one. To have it taken away and then given back, it made the feud so much more satisfying. The real life drama undercurrent was only making the match bigger.
