12 Upcoming Wrestling Stories That Are Already Doomed

9. Austin Theory's Babyface Run

A development that could scupper two stories at the same time, the current likelihood of an Austin Theory babyface turn lighting the territory on fire is about as plausible as WWE making good on the incredible heel turn by Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston on Big E in December 2024.

To recap, the former pair divorced themselves from the latter in a shocking and hugely emotional segment, cruelly brushing off E's potentially career-ending neck injury as him abandoning them when they needed him most. The transgressive act should have propelled them to spots as the entire company's top heels, but they were instead marginalised as comedy stooge villains, and a WrestleMania 41 Tag Team Title win felt hollow due to the sheer lack of interesting competition in the division.

And speaking of that, A-Town Down Under hadn't fared much better. A novelty WrestleMania 40 tag title win felt more than months ago when Grayson Waller started hanging out with Woods and Kingston and burying is partner, and when the split was made official in July 2025 without Theory even appearing on screen, it didn't bode particularly well for his future.

The lowkey severance is in line with where Theory's allegedly been rocking houses as a good guy in the making. Occasional posts of his Main Event pops might say something, even if he's not somebody Cody Rhodes might currently be concerned about, but with deep roots as the smug goof, his chances of success in a particularly stacked field seem slim.
