12 Ups & 2 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Slammiversary 2021

5. Another Big Win

W. Morrissey vs. Eddie Edwards delivered in near every category. Morrissey was the right winner, so he won. The match needed to be mostly Morrissey dominating, so Eddie only really got in flurries of offence at a time. The only gripe your writer has is that the former Big Cass sank to nefarious means, whacking what looked like a studded belt buckle across Eddie's head to lead into the match-ending Powerbomb.

Inarguably, this was the best thing IMPACT could have done with W. Morrissey. He's still somewhat fresh into the company, and so his undefeated streak couldn't end here. It's more the way in which he picked Eddie apart that garners the Up; he literally Chokeslammed the former World Champion on the ring apron. Needless to say, W. Morrissey got to look like a beast, while Eddie was kept strong by kicking out of a stiff big boot.

Where either man goes from here is unknown. Morrissey needs something more than just beating former World and X Division Champions, but he's not yet ready for a title feud. IMPACT likely have something decent lined up for him, so he'll be fine; a singles pay-per-view pinfall win over Eddie arguably should have been done cleanly, though.
