12 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite: Bash At The Beach (Jan 15)

11. New Year, New 'Bad Boy'

Joey Janela
AEW

Joey Janela looked a lot more comfortable in this week's promo than he has in previous segments. Though 'The Bad Boy' has plenty of physical charisma, he's still finding his feet as a weekly TV wrestler - and this was a sign of progress.

Solid stuff from Janela here. He said 2020 was a new year, a clean slate, and a fresh decade for him, then spoke on his ex-girlfriend, Penelope Ford, low-blowing him the other week. The only way Ford could get over was on his name, Janela claimed, then ripped Kip Sabian, before saying his record wasn't should have been in 2019. 2020 is when everything changes, however, and that's why he challenged Rey Fenix.

Janela's work will never be for everyone and his mere presence is always going to irritate viewers of certain preferences, which is fine. Taste is subjective. Still, there was enough here to warrant an Up. A tidy promo from Joey, and that Fenix match should rip.
