12 Ups & 6 Downs From NJPW Best Of The Super Juniors 2019

3. Ishimori's Injury Robs Fans Of Greatness

Taiji Ishimori is legitimately one of the finest wrestlers in the world. Decades of excellence in Japan's smaller promotions made him a buzz-worthy NJPW debutant last year, and after delivering in high-profile bouts with the likes of Hiromu Takahashi, Jushin Thunder Liger, and Dragon Lee since signing with the 'King Of Sports,' and an IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title reign, his big matches were among BOSJ's most anticipated.

Unfortunately, 'Bone Soldier' had a disappointing run. His day 10 clash with SHO was a particularly big letdown, and never really got out of third gear, but there's a good reason for that: Ishimori was working hurt.

The former Pro Wrestling NOAH had spent the tournament gutting it out after suffering undisclosed neck and shoulder problems, thus robbing us of several great matches. He delivered against Shingo Takagi on A Block's final day, though, so let's hope Taiji takes the required time off and comes back healthier than ever. The division needs him.
