12 Ups And 16 Downs For WWE In 2018
4. McIntyre’s Star Rising
Until the last couple weeks, there could be little doubt that WWE has huge plans for Drew McIntyre and were protecting him for a breakout at some point in the near future.
And while we’ve seen him suddenly mired in a strange three-way feud with Finn Balor and Dolph Ziggler, odds are that he’ll emerge from it as the man clearly with the momentum. After all, McIntyre has had too explosive of a 2018 to see his push suddenly dissipate, right?
McIntyre returned to WWE in the Superstar Shakeup in April and made an immediate impact. Despite not winning any singles titles and having only a short run with the Raw Tag Team Championships, Drew was always kept strong throughout the year. It was his running buddy Ziggler who ate the pinfalls, and McIntyre often was the guardian angel for Dolph’s Intercontinental Championship.
Drew really carries himself as a star, both in stature and in how he delivers his promos. He looks like a million bucks. And he’s one of the few wrestlers who could conceivably run at the top of the card on Raw.
