12 Ups And 8 Downs From WWE Royal Rumble 2016

7. Subtraction By Substitution

It€™s safe to say that many fans have been saying for some time now that Jerry Lawler is well past his prime as an announcer and probably should hang it up. Several months ago, he was moved from Raw to Smackdown, obviously a move to downgrade him to a lesser-watched program. But Lawler stayed as the color analyst for PPVs. That changed Sunday, when the King relegated to the Royal Rumble kickoff panel, and Byron Saxton (who also ultimately took Lawler€™s spot on Raw) landed in the third chair for the Rumble PPV. As much as King needed to move on, Saxton is not good. Sorry if you€™re a fan of his, but he needs some serious polish. And even then, there€™s just not a credibility in what he says. You don€™t feel like you believe what he€™s talking about. At least with Lawler, he has the €œbeen there, done that€ credibility you can€™t fake. That makes this a downgrade.
