12 Wrestlers Who Cheated Death

8. Mick Foley

In similar fashion, there were real worries that Mick Foley could be killed during the Hell In A Cell war with The Undertaker. At the King Of The Ring 1998 Pay-Per-View, Foley - performing as Mankind - was hurled from the top of the structure. Even though the announce table was there to land on, it looked nasty. The Undertaker, stood atop the Cell, genuinely thought Foley might be dead. It's scary to imagine what must have been going through the man's head at that point. Further to this, it's frightening to envision what was going through Foley's! The man must have been in some state, and his visible struggles prompted Vince McMahon, Terry Funk and others to come rushing to his aid. There was excitement in the air, but also a fear that he was in real trouble. Unbelievably, the match continued. Later in the bout, Mankind was sent crashing through the roof off the Cell. Adding insult to injury, a steel chair followed him on the way down, thumping against his face when Foley landed on the ring canvas. Yet again, the bump knocked him loopy. This was some severely dangerous risk-taking from the wrestler, who frightened a lot of people.
