12 Wrestlers Who DESTROYED Their Bodies For The Business
8. Triple H
That pic above was used for dramatic affect, but any number of shots from Triple H's in-ring career could've been used instead. He felt his quadricep muscle literally roll up his leg during a match on Raw in May 2001, then spent the rest of the year painfully rehabbing post-surgery. Packing on muscle for his memorable MSG return in January 2002 came with problems of its own - heavier, 'The Game' was running the risk of re-injuring himself.
Unfortunately, the quad issue reared its ugly head again (albeit on the opposite leg) in 2007. That's just the tip of the iceberg for Trips. He's also fought back against RVD crushing his windpipe at Survivor Series 2002, and worked through a brutal pectoral tear during one of his final matches at Crown Jewel 2018. That one was a night to forget for several reasons. Just ask Shawn Michaels, Kane or The Undertaker.
Then, in 2021, Hunter almost suffered heart failure brought on by a genetic issue. It'd take a brave person to suggest that his rigorous wrestling career and all the damage Trips had done to himself since debuting played zero part in his health woes though. On the plus side, this scare prompted him to step away from the ring for good and throw himself 100% into a backstage role.
Now, he's the main man corporately for WWE. His body might be wrecked after so much damage, but Hunter's mind is as sharp as they come. Let's just say he gave his all every single time he was inside the ring.
