4. Jim Ross
For weeks leading into the September 23, 1996 episode of Raw, Jim Ross swore up and down that he had signed Diesel and Razor Ramon to new WWE contracts and that the two giants of the New Generation would be making their way back to the company. That night in Hershey, Pennsylvania, he vowed to reintroduce them to the fans that had been so instrumental in their ascension to sports entertainment greatness. But first, he had a few words for those same fans and, more importantly, his boss Vince McMahon. Ross climbed into the squared circle, microphone in hand, and retold the story of being fired from the company while simultaneously suffering from Bell's Palsy. He unleashed a venomous hatred at his boss for making a fool of him, for firing and rehiring him on multiple occasions. He revealed that, as the head of talent relations, it was him that responsible for all of the talented Superstars the fans had seen up to that point, Getting years of anger off of his chest in a five-minute promo, he came across as a bitter man, his will and spirit broken by years of mistreatment at the hands of wrestling's most powerful man. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_L-zA0OchHE By bringing back Razor and Diesel, the characters but not the men who formerly filled the roles, it was Ross' way of sticking it to McMahon and proving that he was just as essential to the success of the company. That may have been true but the new (and not-so-improved) Razor and Diesel proved to be major flops and by the time 1997 rolled around, Ross' brief heel turn was forgotten.
