12 WWE Wrestlers Who Worked Through Chronic Injury

9. The Undertaker

A bit like Andre and Hogan, a lot of The Undertaker's problems have been about size and weight. It isn't natural for a seven foot, three hundred pounder to be working a pro wrestling style that requires so much physicality. There's so much pressure on the joints when you're that big. Guys like Taker were never designed to be flipping and flopping on canvases. Scarily, it was way back in 1997 that rumours first started flying about The Undertaker being chronically injured. Dirtsheets even suggested that he could be retired within the year. Yet he soldiered on, working through severe pain with his hips, knees and shoulders. It was cumulative wear, but there'd also been specific impact injuries, including a shattered eye socket from a King Mabel botch in 1995. Eventually he missed a long period of time from late 1999 - mid 2000, but even surgery didn't help his pain. He ended up putting on a lot of weight in 2001, related to problems he was having training. He eventually got back in shape and worked through his nagging injuries, putting on the finest work of his career in the late 2000's. But he was injured the whole time, hence why he had a part time schedule which eventually became a one match a year schedule.
