13 Ghosts That Will Definitely Haunt Vince McMahon

4. Marginalising His Own Son

Shane McMahon was always the heir apparent in the WWE. He'd worked closely with his father for years, learning the business from the mid nineties onwards. But then Stephanie McMahon came along in the early 2000's, showing a ferocious appetite to become a driving force in creative and wider business decisions. Vince was impressed with her. When she then got with Triple H, it was like Vince fell in love with him as well. Shane was slowly and surely marginalised, with Vince favouring the Steph / Hunter power couple as the WWE's new rulers. Meanwhile, Shane was gaining real business skills in Global media, cutting a range of important international deals for the WWE. But by 2009, it was apparent that Steph had got her claws stuck in with Vince. As such, Shane left to pursue his business career outside the WWE. The depth of bad feeling between Vince and Shane is unknown, but there's rumoured to be some level of iciness. If it is as severe as some speculate, then this could well be the thing that haunts Vince above all other things.
