One of the defining moments of Vince McMahon's life was when he decided to screw Bret Hart at Survivor Series 1997. The two men had been close, after working together for thirteen years. Especially from the mid nineties, Bret had been Vince's franchise guy. However, the "screwjob" was a complex decision. Bret was going to WCW, but was still the WWF champion. He wasn't willing to drop it to Shawn Michaels on the way out of the door. At the end of the day, Vince owns that belt, and it is Vince's choice who becomes Champion.
