13 Ghosts That Will Definitely Haunt Vince McMahon
8. Crash And Burn Style Of A Generation
In the late nineties and early 2000's, McMahon adopted the recklessness of ECW. He popularised "hardcore" wrestling on a larger stage, to initial great success. Creatively and commercially, the WWE blood and weapons matches were excellent on occasions. However, in the longer term, it created a generation of wrestlers who are now physically wrecked. A young man like Jeff Hardy went into the WWF as a bright prospect in the mid nineties. He left for a final time in 2009, with a range of physical problems and pankiller issues. That's true of so many wrestlers. And it wasn't just from hardcore matches. McMahon brought about stiffer and spot heavier matches, meaning the likes of technical wrestlers such as Kurt Angle also became hooked on painkillers. Eventually, Vince saw that the long term damage was hurting the WWE. He implemented a wellness policy and changed the wrestling style. But he simply has to look back on the mid-nineties to mid-2000's decade as a time in which too many of his wrestlers ended up with terrible problems. The ghosts of that era are unfortunately all too literal in many cases.
