13 Match Star Ratings For AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door

6. Dudes With Attitudes Vs. Bullet Club

Will Ospreay Orange Cassidy
AEW

Face paint.

Tassels.

Feel-good nostalgia.

A pensioner performing wild dives from ridiculous heights.

A beloved wrestling icon creating the illusion, through expert storytelling, that he's on the level of one of the very best wrestlers in the world - at 63 years old - by one-upping Shingo Takagi's senton.

Three utter heel d*ckheads performing with such obnoxiousness with hyperactive back rakes before being outwitted into blasting each other with Stinger splashes.

No-selling as retribution for that irresistibly entertaining bullsh*t.

An electrifying atmosphere.

A surreal, truly dream-like combination of talent.

Mind-blowing high spots.

Amidst the wild novelty of it all, an utterly stellar state-of-the-art pro wrestling match worked at a blistering speed.

Laying out a glorious sprint of a PWG match with f*cking Sting in it, in 2022.

There was actually one "botch" in this match, but it only served to highlight how wonderful it was. "Sting briefly forgot the nipple spot on the AEW/NJPW super-show".

That sentence is real, and it is amazing.

This was the composite professional wrestling match. In a way, this was ★★★★★. The sheer thrill it elicited was beyond special. Even analysed through the traditional lens of the ratings system, with its focus on work rate, execution and crowd noise, it was still incredible.

And it had 63 year-old Sting in it!

Star Rating: ★★★★½
