13 Reasons To Love Eddie Guerrero Vs. Rey Mysterio In WWE

9. Friendly Competition

The first SmackDown of 2005 kicked off with another Rey Mysterio versus Eddie Guerrero barnburner. One of the most underrated matches in the show's history, this was where the tension between the two really started to simmer, due to Eddie's inability to accept the fact that Rey kept getting the better of him between the ropes. Yes, wins and losses do matter, folks. It's refreshing to revisit this feud and see such importance put on the outcome after years of WWE implementing their 50/50 philosophy, where everyone is even and, don't worry if I beat you this week, you'll get me back next week. Look at the above image - Eddie is shaking Rey's hand because they're babyfaces and friends, but he's actually annoyed at himself for not being able to get the job done. As for the match itself, it was typical Guerrero/Mysterio goodness, fifteen minutes of inspired lucha, matwork and big moves. In the end, Rey got the duke after some lyin', cheatin' and stealin' backfired on Latino Heat and Rey Rey was able to catch him with an inside cradle.
