13 Reasons To Love Eddie Guerrero Vs. Rey Mysterio In WWE

8. WrestleMania 21 - Rey And Eddie Go Hollywood

So Rey and Eddie were Tag Team Champions rolling into WrestleMania 21 but, instead of defending the gold, the two were booked against each other after Eddie challenged his partner to a match. In the name of sportsmanship, of course... Opening the show (there are few better combinations to open a wrestling show than Eddie versus Rey), the two Mexican stars put on a solid match, albeit one that was a shade inferior to some of their previous WWE encounters. A lot of this can be attributed to Rey's dodgy mask, the chinstrap of which broke just seconds into the contest. This proved distracting for Rey, as he was constantly re-adjusting in a bid to make sure it didn't fall off while he was wrestling. That meant that a couple of sequences were mis-timed or that Rey wasn't concentrating on selling as much as he ought to have been. Another reason for the quality dip might have been Eddie putting too much pressure on himself - he told everyone backstage in the weeks leading up to the event to expect to see him and Rey steal the show. Their match was good, and certainly not as bad as Eddie's face would suggest afterwards, but it couldn't hold a candle to either the first ever Money in the Bank ladder match or the classic Shawn Michaels versus Kurt Angle contest that went on after them. Still, it wasn't a bad match - can these two actually have a bad match? - and another important step in the evolution of their feud. Eddie lost again, going down once more to a a hurricanrana/rollup from seemingly out of nowhere.
