13 Reasons To Love Eddie Guerrero Vs. Rey Mysterio In WWE

7. Killer Heel Turn & Promo - May 2005

With Eddie losing on the big stage of WrestleMania, the relationship between the champs only got more and more strained. Then that dastardly Chavo got involved, convincing his Uncle that Rey was trying to embarrass him. It was all a bit too much for hothead Eddie, and it was obvious that things were going to erupt. Following a couple of teases and miscommunications, the big turn came, two weeks after Rey and Eddie had dropped the straps to newcomers MNM. On the May 5th, 2005 episode of SmackDown, Eddie Guerrero finally made his intentions known after he brutalised Rey following Mysterio's Street Fight victory over Chavo. In a heavy-duty angle, Eddie beat Mysterio to a bloody pulp, tearing at the mask before delivering a sickening brainbuster on the steel stairs. The fans were stunned. Then, the next week, Eddie cut what might well have been the promo of his life. Sitting alone in the SmackDown ring and illuminated only by a single spotlight, Rey cut a promo on Rey's bloody, torn mask, accusing him of forcing the turn and finishing with the line 'I have your blood on my hands and at Judgement Day, if you come back, I'll have your life'. Just a terrific piece of business, and a promo that really made you want to see them fight at Judgement Day.
