Wrestling fanatics didn't muck around back in the territory days. Yes, it's frankly unacceptable that so many still hang around airports badgering knackered WWE workers for 300 signatures so they can sell action figures on eBay today, but nobody expects someone to barge into the locker room brandishing a knife. That somehow happened to The Sheik during the peak of his heel fame.

Sabu remembers, because he was there. He was in the dressing room with his uncle when an invading "fan" walked in with bad intentions. This sort of altercation was nothing new, because Sheik was used to being attacked when out and about. In the locker room though?! Ooft! Things did not end well for the gentleman (not really a fitting description) in question.

Cornette spoke about the news report that came out afterwards. It claimed that the fan had been knocked through a window and injured when trying to evade arrest. Not quite. In reality, The Sheik had cut him several times on the torso. Jim's words summed it up: “The Sheik had just ripped him from one end to the other”. That had to be a nasty clean up job for staff working in the arena that evening.

What a sucky shift that must've been.

Incredibly, this wasn't even the luckiest escape Farhat had when he was working The Sheik character. Another incident happened when he was literally inside the ring wrestling. One more pull of the trigger and his life could've been ended mid-match. That's downright terrifying, but it very nearly happened right in front of thousands.
