There are few heels in pro wrestling today who get it like The Miz does. He knows when to appear brash and when to shy away like a coward.

This week, after trying to stir the pot between Randy Orton and Jeff Hardy, Miz sold his cowardice by backing off from the former; when Orton said nobody tells him what to do, Miz slowly stepped backwards and pulled one of the director's chairs from his set in front of him.

That was a subtle, yet brilliant, piece of acting from the man. It's these little flourishes that colour Miz's character, and it's something any aspiring heel should study. There's a time and a place to sell gutlessness, and this was it.
