13 Ups & 2 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts Knockdown 2021

7. A Hot Opener

Lady Frost Rachael Ellering

It is possible for an initially mundane bout to transform into a near-banger, as evidently proven by Rachael Ellering vs. Lady Frost. This served well as an opener to both the overall event and the Knockouts Knockdown tournament; it set the perfect precedence for the remainder of the tourney.

This was fairly well-structured, with neither dominating for a prolonged period of time, but rather contesting an even match beaming with Frost's athletic prowess. She looked like the complete package vs. the ex-Knockouts Tag Team Champion; she's got her character down to a tee, she's graceful in-ring, and the fans and commentators get her. Frost is essentially television ready, making her a must get for IMPACT.

Ellering, too, appeared to step up her game here, with more impact clearly being enforced in both her leaping Senton and Boss Woman Slam, which featured two hyperspeed rotations before Lady Frost was viciously planted on her spine. It looked like it genuinely hurt, which is a solid formula for justifying the legitimacy of a pro wrestling finisher.

Again, this one took a while to get going, but once it did, it ruled. An effective way to kickstart the tournament.
