13 Ups & 2 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts Knockdown 2021
8. Prepare To Be IInspired
As a match, Decay vs. the Influence was nothing special. Why it main evented is a mystery, though Mickie James spoke beforehand how this was changing history, so presumably it's the first time a women's tag team title match has headlined a somewhat major pro wrestling event?
It benefitted immensely from its post-match angle, though. The IInspiration are coming at Bound For Glory, and according to PWInsider, Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay have officially signed with IMPACT.
The news was confirmed after Rosemary and Havok had pinned Madison Rayne to remain the Knockouts Tag Team Champions, doing so after a Russian legsweep/Spear combination that completely annihilated the 'Queen Bee'. The remainder of the match is largely forgettable. Rayne and Tenille Dashwood had controlled for large periods, going so far as to connect with their new double-team finish, but it wasn't to be, which is a shame as they'd have a banger with the former IIconics for sure.
Presumably, it's now Rosemary and Havok vs. Lee and McKay on 23 October, which will create further buzz for the pay-per-view. It's excellent marketing, too, as this vignette doesn't appear to have aired when the event was first taped a few weeks ago. It's entirely new, making the reveal that bit better.
