4. Big Show Plays Punchbag For Floyd Mayweather
Can you picture Big Show's face when Vince McMahon told him "Floyd Mayweather's going to punch you in the face tonight." Mayweather was and still is the greatest fighter alive. He's undefeated in all 46 of his boxing bouts, becoming the biggest box office draw on the planet as a result. Both WWE and UFC would kill to do Mayweather numbers, with his bouts tending to pop well above the million buyrate. With this in mind, Vince McMahon spent a reported $3 million to bring Mayweather in for a gimmick match against The Big Show at WrestleMania 24. Mayweather fanned the rumour that he actually cost the WWE $20 million, but there's nothing to substantiate that. Anyway, the big angle to establish this match was a worked shoot at No Way Out 2008. Big Show was mouthing off in the ring, causing guest attendee Floyd Mayweather to jump the fan barrier and get in the ring. Security rushed the scene and Big Show proceeded to goad Floyd to hit him. Which is exactly what the boxing champion did. He nailed a flurry of punches to Big Show's mouth, nose and face. It looked damn real - and chances are it was. Big Show looked like he had a broken nose afterwards. He'd intentionally let Mayweather unload. Can you imagine the sickening anticipation waiting for Mayweather's knuckles to connect? Big Show was a brave man that night.
