13 WWE Stars Who Keep Getting Screwed By Bookers

4. The Miz

the miz The Miz was introduced to the WWE Universe via the 2004 Tough Enough competition. From there, he became an annoying host for SmackDown before partnering with John Morrison in one of the most entertaining teams of all-time. Their web show, The Dirt Sheet, became a cult favorite and helped showcase the personalities of the performers. While Morrison was the favorite to breakout and become a bigger star, it was Miz who made the greatest impact. When the team split, Miz wasted little time capturing gold. He won the United States Championship and in July of 2010, won the Money in the Bank briefcase, guaranteeing himself a shot at the WWE title whenever he pleased. That came in November, the night after the Survivor Series. He cashed in, defeated Randy Orton and captured the championship. It was a great moment for the Cleveland native and one he capitalized on. His first appearance as champion helped increase ratings, leading to him becoming the so-called "Most Must-See Champion in WWE History." The return of The Rock and his confrontations with John Cena completely overshadowed Miz's title reign and a feud with veteran Jerry Lawler, in which the older competitor nearly beat Miz on several occasions, did nothing to help his perception as a fluky champion. By the time his title defense against Cena rolled around at WrestleMania 27, Miz's reign was dead in the water. People did not care about him when two iconic figures such as Rock and Cena were exchanging heated promos and electrifying audiences. He won the match against Cena but was a complete afterthought. His title reign ended weeks later at the hands of, you guessed it, Cena. Miz experienced quite the free-fall after that. He feuded with his lackey, and NXT Season 2 competitor Alex Riley, before becoming the whipping boy for the likes of Cena, Rock, Triple H and CM Punk. Sure, he hung around the main event scene but as nothing more than a name to program against the top babyfaces. He nearly missed out on a WrestleMania 28 payday, then found himself competing almost exclusively in the midcard. The booking team further let him down with an il-advised babyface turn and mediocre, lackluster programs with the likes of Wade Barrett, Curtis Axel and Fandango. 2014 has not been kind to the former WWE champion. He has been treated as a complete sideshow, the host of Miz TV and nothing more. At WrestleMania, he was eliminated early from the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal by comedic performer Santino and has since disappeared from WWE programming to shoot The Marine 4. Outside of being a tremendous public relations figure for the company, acting in WWE Studios pictures may be the best shot the talented talker has of receiving any kind of sustained push.
