For the first eight editions of WrestleMania, the show would go off the air with the same man in the ring, Hulk Hogan. Even at WrestleMania 4, when Hogan was not involved in the main event, he still came out to celebrate with new WWE Champion Randy Savage.

Coming into WrestleMania 9, many fans would have been happy to see a fresh main event of Bret Hart and Yokozuna with The Hulkster lower down the card. Obviously this match does not have a place on this list due to Yokozuna defeating The Hitman to win the WWE Championship. While a man the size of the "Japanese" superstar needing to cheat to win did not make the new WWE Champion look great, the true problem came after the final bell rang for the presumed main event.

Seeing the injustice to The Excellence of Execution, Hogan came down to the ring to confront Yokozuna and his manager Mr. Fuji. Inexplicably, Fuji challenged Hogan on behalf of his charge, and even put the newly won WWE Championship on the line. 22 seconds and some poorly thrown salt later, and fans were treated to the same ending of seven of the eight previous WrestleMania's - Hulk Hogan as WWE Champion.
