13 WWE WrestleMania Matches Where The Wrong Person Won

3. Randy Orton Vs. Triple H - WrestleMania 25

While many of the entries on this list feature both Randy Orton and Triple H, something had to give at the main of WrestleMania 25.

Admittedly, the build up to their match was downright amazing. The Viper and The Game were the final two men in the 2009 Royal Rumble before Orton, with the help of his Legacy cohorts Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Jr., would win. After Triple H regained the WWE Championship, The Apex Predator would go to war with not just his former Evolution leader, but the entire McMahon family. The Legend Killer had all the momentum in the world after punting Vince and Shane, while RKO-ing Stephanie McMahon. In turn, Triple H broke into Orton's home and attacked him, leading to The Kings of Kings being arrested.

With a build as personal as this one, The Viper and The Cerebral Assassin had a chance to have one of the most violent grudge matches in the history of WrestleMania. Yet, once we got to The Showcase of the Immortals, the two bitter rivals had a rather basic wrestling match. Despite being portrayed as one of the biggest heels in the WWE, Randy Orton could not overcome Triple H, even five years after the 'Reign of Terror' was over. While The Viper was far from a new star, a win at WrestleMania would have done much more for him than The Game.
