The Animal Batista was a very unlikely main event superstar. He started his career as an enforcer type character for D Von Dudley, before transitioning to a more elevated role as Triple H's bodyguard in Evolution. But even in Evolution, you never would have thought that he'd go on to singles success. Sure, he had the look, he was a jacked up bodybuilder. But his in-ring work was abysmal and he lacked microphone skills. Yet, he'd end up becoming one of the biggest stars of that 2000 to 2010 decade. The crowd noisily backed him to turn on Triple H, which resulted in a swell of popularity that carried him to multiple main events, including the WrestleMania 21 show closer. He improved a lot on the microphone and also got a lot better in the ring. There's some great Batista matches out there. He left in 2010, but returned for a brief 2014 run in which he main evented several more shows, including WrestleMania 30.
