14 Reasons 2015 Was The Worst Ever Year For WWE Creative

6. Ineffectiveness Of NXT As Developmental

Arguably the best promotion of the year, NXT had a phenomenal 2015, make no mistake. But as a developmental territory that is supposed to churn out future superstars for WWE? 2015 was meh. As the reigning Intercontinental Champion, Kevin Owens is the best argument for an NXT success story in 2015, but who else from NXT has had a successful transition since being called up? The Ascension? Neville? Charlotte? The jury's still out on this one, but bringing up three NXT women at the same time and shuffling them into a misguided, 9-woman tag-team feud under the failed branding of a "Divas Revolution" is not exactly the best way to start. Becky Lynch? Sash Banks? See above and entry #5. Meanwhile on the main roster, Sheamus is WWE Champion and the embarrassingly stagnant Roman Reigns is #1 contender, both just headlined December's PPV. Am I the only one that thinks Samoa Joe vs. Finn Balor would have been better off main-eventing TLC instead of NXT Takeover? This is the problem with NXT; talented performers that are clear impact players remain sidelined and underutilized by staying in NXT for far too long. If the yellow brand is first and foremost the developmental system for the future, and WWE is in dire need of help right now, why not call up these two men and put them on the card instead of Tommy Dreamer and Rhyno? Timing is everything and if NXT is to remain the breeding ground for future WWE superstars, then WWE must do a better job at the planning and execution of NXT call-ups going forward.
