Immediately following the O'Reilly/Cole ROH Championship match, New Japan followed tradition and laid out the calendar for the forthcoming year. All the usual shows were announced, but it was two shows at the beginning of July that provided the most intrigue.

It had been rumoured for a while, but the announcement during Wrestle Kingdom 11 confirmed that in 2017 NJPW will make its debut in the United States of America. The company will be going worldwide, putting on two shows at the Long Beach Convention Center on July 1 and 2. The shows are being billed as 'G1 Special' shows, with more details to be announced at a later date.

NJPW truly is going worldwide.
