14 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (20 Nov)

11. Jim F'n Ross

Excalibur Jim Ross
AEW

Jim Ross is one of the most widely criticised figures in All Elite Wrestling, with his occasional grumpiness and tendency to draw attention to mistakes rather than hide them drawing all kinds of critiques, constructive or otherwise.

Some of this is earned. Here's the thing, though: if Ross is to be criticised when he doesn't help push the product forward, he needs to be praised when he does, and the legendary announcer was tremendous last night.

This may have been Ross' best performance in the AEW booth so far. He was warm, endearing, enthusiastic, and as energetic as one could reasonably expect all night long, with any complaints he raised making perfect sense in accordance with kayfabe and the relevant storylines. One particularly great call saw him cover for a lull in the battle royal action by stating that the wrestlers were in a state of shock after Jimmy Havoc's staple gun rampage.

That was the Oklahoman at his best, though his on-the-night performances had no real dips. He delivered throughout.
