14 Ups & 2 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Rebellion 2021

6. Tenille Gets Wilde

Like with Brian Myers, the case of Tenille Dashwood’s booking in IMPACT Wrestling must be taken with a pinch of salt. Her status as Deonna Purrazzo’s Knockouts Championship contender for a marquee pay-per-view seemed odd at first.

Then she delivered a legitimate banger.

‘The Influencer’ took it to Deonna like this was her retirement match. Her diving cross body and Tajiri-esque Tarantula were both executed perfectly, while Purrazzo’s pump kick had an extra bit of pulp in it. Had it not been for Susan and Kimber Lee’s intervention, the former Emma very well could have been the Knockouts Champion right now, once after locking in the old Emma Lock and once by hitting a vicious Spotlight Kick.

She instead succumbed to the Queen’s Gambit, having already escaped a Fujiwara armbar. A post-match beatdown saw Tenille saved by a returning Taylor Wilde, with the former Knockouts Champion hitting her beautiful German suplex on Susan. Your writer has missed her execution of that move dearly.

There’s your Slammiversary Knockouts Championship match. That Wilde’s return didn’t overshadow Dashwood and Purrazzo’s contest here at all is a testament to the effort put in by both. This was Tenille’s coming out party if you will in IMPACT. About time.
