14 Wild UFC Fights You'd Be A Fool To Miss In January

8. Alessio Di Chirico Vs. Joaquin Buckley - UFC Fight Island 7

Ever since his sensational highlight reel knockout win over Impa Kasanganay at UFC Fight Island 5, the Joaquin Buckley hype train has been full steam ahead. His most recent bout was a rather quick, yet devastating encounter with Jordan Wright at UFC 255, as Buckley knocked him out with punches in the first round.

It's quite clear that at 26-years old, Buckley has some serious potential. Which makes it somewhat puzzling as to why he's facing Alessio Di Chirico. With Buckley having a 12-3 record and Di Chirico coming in at 12-5, it would make sense to some as they've got a similar amount of experience. However, if you look a little closer, you'll realise their careers are going in two completely different trajectories.

Although Buckley is on the highest of highs with a two-fight win streak, Di Chirico has lost three fights on the trot. While there are no easy fights in the UFC per se, it's hard not to think that the Italian isn't being made the sacrificial lamb to help solidify Buckley's star power.
