14 Wrestling Gimmicks Blatantly Stolen From Hollywood

9. Outback Jack - Crocodile Dundee

In a knee-jerk effort to capitalise on the success of 1986's Australian hit comedy Crocodile Dundee, Aussie wrestler Peter Stilsbury was hired by WWE and given the name Outback Jack (sounds like the name of a steakhouse, right?).

Jack clung desperately to basically every Aussie stereotype while attempting to recreate the rough-hewn charm of Paul Hogan as the movie's protagonist Mick Dundee. The only really memorable aspect of the character was his hype vignettes, showing him driving around rural Australia and boozing it up with cows in a pub.

It just goes to show that you can't put a bush jacket on a 300lb man and call him Dundee. Above all else, this was just an obscenely lazy gimmick, as though Vince or someone was reading the newspaper, saw an ad for the movie and everything just "clicked".
