15 Best WWE Mattel Action Figure Reveals At SDCC 2016

1. Retro Figures (Hasbro Style)

The best reveal of WWE action figures from this year's SDCC was that of a surprise announcement.

Sure, the standard Mattel line had some great reveals that have already been discussed in detail, but most, if not all, of those figures were expected.

What wasn't expected was the reveal of retro-style action figures that mimic the old WWF-licensed action figures that Hasbro produced starting in 1990. These 6-inch plastic action figures were the golden age of wrestling action figures that bring back great memories for many now-adult collectors, including yours truly. There's still a large segment of the fan base that collect Hasbros as this line seems to have won the hearts of collectors over all other former WWE action figures.

Well, Mattel is doing their best to try and resurrect this lovable line.

Just looking at the samples, Brock Lesnar resembles the same mold as the original Hulk Hogan/Gorilla Press Slam and Roman Reigns looks like a hybrid of Jake The Snake/Bret Hart style Hasbo figures from 25 years ago.

While they are unlikely to be exactly the same as the original Hasbros, Mattel seems to have an early commitment to its similarities and, in turn, this new line has created a buzz among wrestling figure toy collectors. The longtime, adult collectors (often willing and able to spend more money on the product than children), especially, have been voicing their excitement to see this series grow.

Kudos to Mattel on a successful 2016 San Diego Comic Con!
