15 Most Unusual Ways To Win A WWE Title

9. Voice Recording

Despite I-Quit matches being one of the most savage and brutal gimmick matches, with anything-goes rules, The Rock somehow managed to find a way to cheat in a match where there's not supposed to be any ways to cheat. In a legendary clash at the 1999 Royal Rumble, The Rock was attempting to win the WWE Championship from everyone's favourite man with a brown leather mask, Mankind. Foley chose the stipulation of an I Quit match to determine the champion, being fully aware that his pain tolerance and overall insanity would be enough to see off the challenger. When it came to the match, The Rock gave Mankind all he could handle, including those infamous chairshots to the head, but Mick being Mick, he wouldn't quit. As a last resort, The Rock used the Talkboy he got for Christmas in 1992 (or it might have been some other form of voice recording, nobody knows), to playback an earlier recording of Foley saying 'I Quit', which was accepted as a admittance of Foley's submission. The Rock won the match, and with it the WWE Championship, thanks to an assist from a voice recording, and presumably, some guy in the production truck pressing play at the right time. It's fair to say we'll probably not see a title won in those circumstances again.
