14. Punch-Up At A Wedding

In October 1985, a wedding was scheduled to take place on the second ever edition of WWF Saturday Night€™s Main Event on NBC. Head of a stable of hillbillies called (with a typically WWF flair for the lyrical) The Hillbillies, Uncle Elmer was six foot ten of bearded haystack, and about to wed his sweetheart Joyce. Riding high from having defeated €˜Gentleman€™ Jerry Valiant in only six seconds earlier on that night, Elmer was ready for the happiest day of his life€ only to have €˜Rowdy€™ Roddy Piper come out and insult his family, while Jesse €˜The Body€™ Ventura made fun of the proceedings on commentary. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3AOQKJ24BA The reception ended with Ventura going head first into the cake, in what was, in the end, rather a tame affair for the WWF. Why is it on this list? Because it wasn€™t a work. Stan €˜Uncle Elmer€™ Fraizier really did marry his real life partner Joyce Stazko in the middle of a WWF ring on national television, and allow Vince McMahon Jr. to book run-ins and a burial by a heel announcer on their actual, legit wedding day.
