So how does Angle compare himself to five years ago? Generally speaking, he offers a positive picture of his well-being:

"I'm good, I'm healthy and I can mix it up in the ring. I've kept my body very healthy and I've been able to avoid injury most of my career outside of WWE. I've been very fortunate. Back in WWE between 2003 and 2006, I kept rushing myself back and get back on TV. Talking to my doctors back then, you'd be cleared by your own doctor not a WWE doctor... I would have my doctor clear me early and come back and I kept re-breaking my neck - four times in two and a half years and that was probably the biggest mistake I made."

Angle reveals he admires WWE's stricter Wellness Policy, which is safer and which would have forced him to take his time to return. For now, though, he's not had issues with his neck for 11 years, and while it's up to WWE, he says "we'll see what happens" when it comes to returning to the ring.
