15 Worst WrestleMania Performers Ever
A surprise list full of Hall-of-Famers and just a few jobbers.
When you think about WrestleMania, you often think about the
many triumphs we see each and every year: Daniel Bryan’s WM 30 ascension; Randy
Savage defying the odds to win the WWF Championship at WM IV; Ultimate Warrior
toppling Hulk Hogan at WM VI; and of course, The Undertaker racking up 21
straight victories at Mania.
But not everyone can be a picture of success at the biggest show of the year. In fact, the vast majority of wrestlers who have competed at WrestleMania have walked away in defeat. For every Undertaker, there’s the wrestling equivalent of the Brooklyn Brawler or Iron Mike Sharpe.
What’s really interesting when you dive into the records of former and current WWF/E superstars is that you see some household names sporting some very poor won-loss records. There are several WWE Hall-of-Famers who have racked up horrendous WrestleMania records, and others who will surprise you.
A quick note: This list is accurate as possible, taking into account all main show Mania matches, and many of the kickoff show matches that have taken place in the WWE Network era, since they basically air just an hour before the main show on the same platform. Also, multi-man matches, such as the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, will count as a loss for the multiple men who have gotten tossed.
Let’s get to it…
16. Honorable Mentions
Let’s give a quick shout-out to some notable superstars who just
missed this list still have notably bad records at WrestleMania.
Big Show deserves mention alone for his record-tying number of losses – 12 – against only five wins. (Triple H also has lost 12 Mania matches, but he’s won nine.) Among those losses are defeats against Akebono and Floyd Mayweather Jr., as well as John Cena, Undertaker and Mankind.
Two wrestlers, new HOFer Mark Henry and Matt Hardy sport 2-6 records, with Henry’s record tanking after four straight unsuccessful appearances in the Andre the Giant battle royal. Hardy was carrying a dismal 1-6 record before winning the Raw Tag Team Championships with his brother Jeff at WrestleMania 33 last year, boosting him out of the main list.
Matt has entered this year’s Andre battle royal, so most likely, we’ll see his record worsen, but that’s for a future list.
