15. Leaving WCW Together
Dean talks about the infamous move when he, Eddie, Chris Benoit and Perry Saturn decided to make the jump from WCW to WWE. He says that there had been a meeting with an executive during Eric Bischoff's hiatus who told the talent if they weren't happy they could leave, and that stuck with them. The day they actually quit, Eddie was late to the arena and he walked in with his suitcase as his friends were heading to to the office. When he asked where they were going and they told him they were going to go quit, he said "I'll come with you" and turned around and followed them to give his notice. Dean says he still laughs about it to this day because of how willing Eddie was to quit a company making six figures just because he trusted his friends. He adds that they were secure in the knowledge that they could return to Japan and make a living if they had to. The company put the World Title on Benoit as an olive branch but he didn't want it, and the left immediately after.
