In the buildup to this match The Shield would receive their first ever 6-man tag team loss at the hands of Daniel Bryan, Kane, and Randy Orton. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins would now put their Tag Team Championships on the line against a Kane-less version of that team.

The main story of this match was the dynamic of how Orton and Bryan might coexist. Reigns and Rollins were a very solid tag team during their title run that worked well as a unit and that was highlighted here.

One example of their teamwork was when Orton reached out of the ring towards Rollins but didn't see Roman nearby. He was met square in the jaw by a Superman Punch courtesy of Reigns.

Orton and Bryan's loss was ultimately due to their inability to work together. Orton allowed Bryan to take a Reigns spear as he avoided it. Rollins then Curb Stomped Daniel to set up the winning pin.

This was a fond era of Roman's career as he was regularly placed opposite elite talent such as Bryan and Orton.
