17 Things We Learned From The Dudley Boyz On Talk Is Jericho
7. Spike Dudley
Talk turns to the runt of the Dudley litter, and Bubba tells the story of how Spike got into the business. He had sent a tape to ECW and they called him and told him if he could get to the dojo they'd give him a look. At the time Spike lived in California, so he packed up his entire house and his dog into his tiny car and drove 3,500 miles to Deer Park, New York where Bubba picked him up to bring him to the dojo for a tryout. He had no guarantee of anything other than a chance to show what he could do - which Bubba calls some "real old school stuff" - and impressed them enough to get picked up. In his first appearance, Big Dick Dudley pulled him out of a potato sack, and Bubba says that he fit in well with the two of them because he was the underdog that they would always bully until he fought back, and the people loved him. Jericho asks if they brought Spike with them to WWE and Bubba says that he and Devon were recruited and Spike didn't join them until after ECW folded.
