7. Big Boss Man Vs. Mr. Perfect (With Bobby Heenan) - WrestleMania VII
Never mess with a man's mother. This is something Bobby "The Brain" Heenan found out the hard way in early 1991. Heenan's comments about the matriarch of The Big Boss Man's family earned him the wrath of the former corrections officer. What unfolded in the weeks that followed was simplistic but effective storytelling that led to one of the most underrated matches in early WrestleMania history. Building his way up to Heenan, Boss Man would dispatch of various members of the Heenan Family faction. At the Royal Rumble, he beat The Barbarian in a heavyweight battle that was infinitely better than it had any right to be. It was a bit of evidence that suggested that Boss Man was in the midst of his hottest streak as an in-ring competitor. From there, he would advance to WrestleMania, where he would challenge Mr. Perfect for the Intercontinental Championship in one of the night's most anticipated bouts. Boss Man was just moments from capturing a title that had eluded him throughout his career but a disqualification finish robbed him of it. The return of Andre the Giant, who had split from Heenan a year earlier, capped off the feud. Even though it never really had a definitive conclusion that saw Boss Man pummel The Brain or wrest the title from Perfect, it was still a wonderfully executed pro wrestling feud that was easy to follow, featured a clear cut good guy that fans could get behind and culminated in a high profile title match at the most important event of the year.
