Dana White said the following about UFC signing CM Punk -
"He wanted to give it a shot, so we gave him an opportunity. It's not like Brock Lesnar. We're not going to throw the kitchen sink at him. Lesnar had a wrestling background. (CM Punk) is going to fight a guy who is 1-0, 1-1, 2-1 -- something like that. He's been coming to fights for a long time and after his WWE contract was up, he called me and said he wanted to give it a shot. I said, 'All right. We'll give you a shot.'"
So, basically, UFC are going to make it as easy as possible for Punk to win his first fight. White says he'll be matched with another rookie; but it'll probably be even easier than that. At the end of the day, UFC don't want their new prized performer wiped out early in his career. In MMA, anything can happen, so even against a dummy we could still see Punk lose. Even top fighters get caught. However, even with his inexperience, the safe bet is that Punk wins his first fight.
