2 Ups & 4 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Jul 19)

1. Friends Or Rivals?

Remember when Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa went up to WWE's main roster for a short while earlier on this year, and were teaming together despite crafting the perfect rivalry down in NXT? Remember how livid everyone was when this happened, having months of excellent storytelling essentially poured down the drain?

Well, the same sort of thing happened with two of the matches here, although there almost certainly won't be the same level of criticism.

Eddie Edwards and Moose, and Michael Elgin and Willie Mack were both paired together for the tournament, which is fine. That's what the tournament was all about: strange bedfellows. However, why were they on the same page as their respective partners for the entirety of the contest? There was no sign of dissension at any point between any of them in their matches. Both tandems worked together like nothing had ever happened between them, going on to win their matches against Rohit Raju and Cody Deaner, and Ace Austin and Stone Rockwell respectively.

It's moments like this that make it so easy to hate on Impact's product at times. At least Raju and Deaner knew what they were doing as they brawled post-match.
